Lindsay Lohan: A Bad Role Model?

Although Lindsay Lohan started out as a Disney star with such wholesome early hits
as Parent Trap and Freaky Friday, Lohan quickly became a teenage movie queen with teen-appropriate content.
Confessions of a Drama Queen was her breakout movie, while Mean Girls garnered her critical and box office
acclaim.
However, Lindsay Lohan quickly became a regular subject of tabloid media for various reasons. Reports of a catfight
between Lohan and Hilary Duff began to circulate in 2003. Apparently, the fight was over their relationships with
singer Aaron Carter. Duff and Lohan later denied that there was any fight or fued between them.
Lohan was only seventeen years old when she moved in with tv-actor Wilmer Valderrama in early 2004. Their breakup
made all the gossip columns and various rumors ensued. Even actors such as Bruce Willis had to clear up
insinuations that they were not entangled romantically with Lindsay in any way.
Lindsay became increasingly portrayed as a party girl who rubbed elbows at clubs with the likes of celebrities such
as Nicky and Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie. Lohan defends allegations that she is a party animal by claiming that
she was just going out and having fun.
Rumors of breast implant surgery continue to follow her, despite repeated assurances that she has never had breast
implants. She later lampooned these rumors on Saturday Night Live.
Lohan also made headlines for her three car accidents in 2005. The first accident was relatively minor, although
the victims threatened to sue her. Lohan also suffered minor injuries when paparazzi hit her car while following
her for photographs. Although the police called the crash intentional, there was not enough evidence to file
criminal charges. Lohan also got into a third accident in West Hollywood, striking a van that was making an illegal
U-turn.
Lohan has also made headlines for her dramatic weight loss during 2005. At first she claimed that she had lost
weight due to overworking, which she claimed led to a collapse and a liver and kidney infection.
Lohan got into more trouble when she caused trouble on the set of her new movie,
complaining that she was overheated and dehydrated. Morgan Creek Productions CEO James G. Robinson composed a
letter telling her to shape up and to stop making excuses. The letter eventually leaked all over the Internet.
Finally, People magazine reported that Lohan had been attending Alcoholics Anonymous in Los Angeles for a year,
confirming that Lohan did indeed have a substance abuse problem. Lohan checked into a rehab clinic the following
month after that and became an outpatient a short while later.
