Paris Hilton is an American celebrity socialite who is known for making splashy
headlines around the world for her antics. She is an heiress to a share of the Hilton Hotel fortune. She also has a
share in the real estate fortune of her father Richard Hilton.
Hilton is well known for her participation in the reality television show The Simple Life. She is perhaps best
known for her homemade sex video, 1 Night in Paris, which was made with Rick Salomon and which leaked into the
Internet around 2003. She has dabbled in many projects. Her repertoire includes modeling, singing, acting, and
writing.
Hilton is a darling of the tabloid media. The media follows her through her turbulent love life, which is
ever-changing. She was engaged to male fashion model Jason Shaw for a year, 2002-2003. However, on May 2005, she
announced her engagement to Paris Latsis, a Greek shipping heir. The engagement ended after five months. She soon
thereafter began to date a shipping heir named Stavros Niarchos III, but she reportedly broke up with him on May
2006.
Media reports also hinted at rumors that Paris Hilton’s longstanding friendship with Nicole Ritchie was in trouble.
Paris responded by confirming the falling out. Hilton later told HX Magazine that the two had grown apart due to
fame. However, as of October 2006, Hilton claims the feud between her and Ritchie are over.
Hilton apparently imposed a ban on sexual activity for a year on July 2006. She announced this on Regis and Kelly,
telling them that “One-night stands are not for me. I think it's gross when you just give it up. Guys want you more
if you don't just hand it to them on a platter. If they want you, then they will wait. You have to make them work
for it. I think that's the only way you know if they really want you or just want to be able to brag that they've
been with you."
However, soon afterward, Hilton was photographed kissing Brandon Davis in West Hollywood. To make matters even more
confusing, she told People magazine that she and shipping heir Stavros are together again.
If you think her love life is complicated, you haven’t heard the half of it! Paris also made headlines for driving
under the influence in 2007. She was arrested and the high alcohol content in her blood attested to the fact that
she had consumed alcoholic beverages earlier in the day. Paris Hilton pled no contest to alcohol-related reckless
driving and was placed on probation.
Hilton’s private life made headlines yet again on January 2007 when she launched a website called ParisExposed.com.
This website featured images of personal documents obtained when her storage locker was auctioned off. The website
charged online access to the material and received over a million visitors in over forty hours. Paris Hilton
eventually formed an injunction against ParisExposed, leading the website to be shut down.
